**The Opportunity**
The role of the policy team is to support improved outcomes for Transgrid by advocating for policy and regulatory reform. Policy has a significant impact on the financial and operating environment of Transgrid as well as the services it can offer. Engagement in policy also impacts Transgrid’s reputation with stakeholders and consumers as an industry leader and contributes more broadly to its social licence to operate.
The purpose of this role is to assist in helping Transgrid navigate the external policy environment and develop and advocate for policy outcomes which support Transgrid achieve its strategic goals. Reporting into the Senior Manager Policy Reform, this role will take the lead on research, drawing out insights on commercial issues, and writing papers and submissions for the team.
We are seeking talented professionals with proven research and analytical skills to assess complex issues and develop and advocate solutions. In an environment where collaborative engagement with stakeholders is key, it is essential that you have strong analytical, strategic, relationship building and communication skills.
**Skills & Experience**
What we expect from you:
- Experience may be in a range of sectors such as industry, consulting, or the public sector and in specialist policy, research, regulatory and advisory roles.
- Knowledge of regulated industries (such as utilities and telecommunications) and the national energy market would be an advantage but is not essential.
- Solid demonstrated research, writing and analytical skills.
- Solid demonstrated experience in economics, public policy, strategy or commercial roles, with technical background well regarded also.
