**Your Opportunity**
- Queensland Rail has an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with a strong interest and knowledge on safety in the workplace to join our SEQ Safety Risk & Assurance team as a **Safety Adviser**on a permanent fulltime basis.
- As a Safety Adviser, you will be a Subject Matter Expert on Workplace Health & Safety policies offering support and consultation to the business to ensure compliance standards are upheld.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide professional advice into the design, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of safety management frameworks and plans, inclusive of methodologies, systems, processes and procedures.
- Coordinate workplace planned inspections and conduct safety audits to ensure compliance to Queensland Rail Safety Management System.
- Develop effective strategic safety management inputs for integration with the one year and/or five yearly business plans, and to ensure that those plans deliver the stated business performance objectives by co-ordinating the delivery of agreed action.
- Ensure Queensland Rail and applicable business units complies with Workplace Health and Safety Legislation, safety related legislation and Queensland Rail Governance Management Framework.
- Conduct incident investigations and support the Queensland Rail regulatory notification requirements.
- As a member of the SEQ Safety & Risk team, actively promote Queensland Rail wide initiatives and support local implementation and cross learning.
- Conduct reviews and analysis of incident reports (including Hazards) and safety statistical data, to support risk based rectification of safety hazards across the workplace.
- Provide specialist safety knowledge to the leaders to enable them to implement safe work practices for all workers.

**Roster Information**:
- Whilst this role is Monday to Friday, on occasion you will be required to work a rostered weekend. Weekend work is planned well in advance, and you will be compensated at penalty rates or day in lieu.

- Exceptional interpersonal and written and oral communication skills to liaise effectively across a broad range of stakeholders.
- WHS qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential.
- Excellent skills in investigation, analysis, problem solving and attention to detail.
- Substantial level of knowledge of WHS Act.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, sharing knowledge and supporting others in the achievement of team goals.
