**About the Role**

This position will be working on a huge highway upgrade project in the Blacktown area. The Surveillance Officer is expected to lead highly complex or specialist surveillance activities on nominated contract works for the administration of road and construction works to ensure delivery in accordance with client time, quality and scope requirements.

**Key accountabilities include**:

- Coach and mentor experienced Surveillance Officers, engineering and project staff in order to develop and enhance best-practice surveillance and project practices within their area of expertise.
- Monitor, support and influence development partner progress against agreed milestones and deliverables in a highly specialized and complex construction project.
- Act as a source of specialized technical advice for trades, engineering and project staff within their area of specialization in order to build capability and improve project outcomes.
- Anticipate complex technical issues and provide advice on the remediation of these issues to project and contract engineers and/ or managers in order to support best practice project management and works delivery.
- Effectively communicating complex and specialized technical concepts to non-expert audiences in order to support best-practice contract and project management.

**About You**
- Demonstrated ability to source, analyse, interpret and contribute to project, construction and contract documentation in a complex, specialized field.
- Advanced interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiation skills and a proven ability to foster positive, collaborative and constructive relationships in a construction environment.
- Proven planning and organisational skills with a well-developed capacity to work under and manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
