**About the role**:
As a Cost Control Analyst at Origin Energy, your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and manage the costs of our execution projects, such as renewable energy developments and power generation upgrades. You will support the project controls and cost management teams, as well as project managers and other stakeholders, by providing guidance on cost management processes and ensuring effective project controls. Your role will be crucial in delivering accurate financial oversight and maintaining cost efficiency to achieve project goals.
This 2-year limited-term contract, with potential for permanency, offers a unique opportunity to influence the success of Origin's projects and contribute to our transition to a low-carbon future through robust cost management and financial governance practices.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Develop and maintain cost management processes and systems for projects, including renewables and power generation.
- Prepare cost forecasts, budgets, and reports; analyse costs to identify trends, variances, and risks.
- Collaborate with project teams on budgeting, planning, and effective cost management aligned with project schedules.
- Conduct cost audits, manage purchase orders, process invoices, and oversee contract variations for compliance.
- Provide financial insights, monitor project targets, and prepare estimates at completion (EAC).
- Support continuous improvement in cost reporting, analysis, and governance in line with strategic goals.
**What you will bring**:
- 3-5 years of experience in cost control, financial analysis, or financial planning in a large organisation and project environment, with a focus on the renewables or energy sector
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced), PRISM, and SAP.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline.
