**SUPPORT WORKER - GOLD COAST**

- Must be able and willing to service the Gold Coast area
- Would suit someone with experience in disability, with both 1:1 and group support
- Car & driver’s license essential
- Must be able and willing to provide personal care

**About the organization**

Support Mates is all about the “mate-ships” we help to create between carers and participants. We strive to connect participants with carers they can form strong and lasting bonds with, someone they can trust has their back.

**About the role**

You will actively support the need of people with mental and physical disabilities; helping to build upon the client’s independence while also striving to promote social inclusion within the community.

Day-to-day tasks will vary depending on the client’s goals - which can include, but not limited to, social and/or educational outings, such as assistance with cooking or working on how to maneuver public transport, and personal care.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Working towards achieving client goals, as outlined in the service agreements
- Transportation to appointments and activities
- Be in the know of what’s happening around town, recommend activities for the client relevant to their goals/hobbies
- Personal care

**Skills & Experience**
- Prior experience in support work will be highly regarded
- Certification in Disability Support Work will be highly regarded
- A current unrestricted driver’s license and reliable vehicle with full comprehensive insurance - Essential
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificates, or willingness to obtain before commencement - Essential
- NDIS Worker Orientation Completion Certificate - Essential
- Liability Insurance - Essential
- Have a mobile phone for work purposes - Essential
- The ability to develop positive relationships with the clients and to support their individual care plans as appropriate
- Good communication skills, both written and speaking. Must exemplify the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including carers, families and advocates)

**Salary**:$30.00 to $35.00 an hour

**Job Type**: Subcontract
