About the VGSO
The Victorian Government Solicitor's Office (VGSO) serves the rule of law exclusively for the State.
The VGSO provides responsive legal services exclusively for the Victorian Government and public sector. About the Branch
The Commercial, Property and Technology Branch assists government clients to get things done. We work on significant commercial transactions and projects, offering deep commercial expertise in a government context. The branch also offers specialist services in IP/IT, property and Native Title.
Responsibilities for the role
- Manage your own matters from start to finish (with appropriate supervision) and develop your client relationships
- Work on a range of transactions and interesting legal issues, alone (with supervision) or as part of a cross-disciplined team
- Provide high quality commercial legal advice in the most appropriate form
- Opportunities to practice your presenting skills and contribute to client relationship and business development initiatives
Skills and experience required
- Admitted to practice as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Victoria
- Knowledge and understanding of basic principles and practice of commercial law
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and client relationship management skills
- Flexibility and the ability to manage competing priorities (with supervision and support)
