**Your role**: As a Library Technician you will play a crucial role working with the Librarian in supporting the operations and functions of the senior library and work closely with the junior school librarian to help promote a lifelong love of reading. The responsibilities encompass various tasks that contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the library and its services. This position requires exceptional organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion. You will be a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and must process excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Manage and monitor the information needs of the school and ensure that appropriate sources of information are collected and/or assessed to meet current and future information needs and are appropriate to the target audience.
- Manage and operate the acquisition and accession process, including regular stocktake, ensuring that all material received by the library is properly recorded and accounted for in line with departmental policies.
- Perform descriptive cataloguing, copy cataloguing and close cataloguing in accordance with accepted cataloguing procedures.
- Manage and operate the library loans and returns function in accordance with library policy
- Prior proven experience in a similar position, preferably in an educational setting
- Passion for promoting literacy and a love for books
- Familiarity with library systems and technology
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Please note, this is a part-time vacancy 0.83FTE (60hrs/fortnight)
This is a TO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the TO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the TO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of TO2 to TO3 classification range.

- When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
