The Investment Principal will play a key leadership role in the identification, evaluation, execution and management of investment opportunities within the Main Sequence Planetary Challenge areas. You will create and fund world-leading companies solving massive problems by commercializing Australian research, and supporting those companies along their journey, typically as a Board Director or Observer.

**Requirements**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead the evaluation and due diligence process for potential investment opportunities, including conducting market research, financial analysis, and company assessments
- Develop and execute investment theses within one or more of our Planetary Challenges, working closely with the investment team to identify and evaluate potential investment opportunities
- Champion and build awareness of Main Sequence with founders, researchers and other stakeholders.
- Act as a primary point of contact for portfolio companies, providing strategic guidance and support to help them achieve their growth objectives, and taking a Board seat where appropriate
- Build and maintain relationships with co-investors
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the firm's investment processes and methodologies
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in the deep tech sector
- Mentor and develop junior team members, helping them to grow and advance in their careers

**Qualifications**:

- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as engineering, science, business or finance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand and evaluate complex technologies and business models
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence a diverse group of stakeholders
- A minimum of 10 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in venture capital, private equity, consulting, or a related field
- A passion for deep tech and a strong interest in supporting the commercialization of innovative research and technologies
- A track record of success in leading and executing investment opportunities
- Startup experience or demonstrated founder empathy
- A self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- A bias towards action
- Service mentality to assist founders solve problems and generate returns for investors
- Truth seeking about what it takes to build and run a successful company
- Understanding of product importance in scaling a successful startup
