**The role and what we're looking for**:
Capricorn Travel Australia Pty is a gold award winning member of the Travellers Choice network recognised as one of Australia's best travel agent groups at the National Travel Industry awards. The Travel and Events Manager is accountable for the operations of Capricorn Travel and the various Capricorn Member events scheduled throughout the year for our 20K+ membership base. This includes business planning, marketing planning, financial performance, sales, staff management and relationship management with other Capricorn divisions to promote cross selling of the Capricorn Travel products.
**Key responsibilities of the role include**:
- Develop and recommend strategies for the business and product development of the travel department;
- Ensure the smooth efficient running of the business regarding all aspects of travel;
- Build and maintain relationships with travel and event partners, including airlines, hotels and wholesalers;
- Be an escalation point for customer disputes ensuring Members experience a positive resolution where possible;
- Oversee and provide support when necessary in the organisation of travel arrangements of members, suppliers, external clients and internal stakeholders;
- Manage Capricorn's Automotive events schedule and logistics to deliver professional high-quality events from inception to delivery;
- Manage the planning and delivery of major Capricorn events including the biannual “convention” and annual gala dinner and gold day events nationally;
- Plan, manage and deliver the annual Gala Dinner & Golf day events nationally, ensuring that the state Sales Managers are engaged in the planning and delivery in each state.
**About you**:
- Capricorn Travel is an IATA agency therefore previous knowledge of BSP link and self-plate ticketing is essential
- GDS trained preferably Galileo with Crosscheck (CCTE) account system knowledge
- Understanding of corporate contracts including but not limited to airline, accommodation & venue's
- Ability to understand and adapt to changing business requirements;
- Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and leverage relationships that results in a positive change to approach or behaviour;
- Business awareness, commercial acumen and strong negotiation skills;
- Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and can converse at all levels within and outside the organisation;
- Previous experience in a travel and events leadership role;
- Delivery of large events and/or projects, directly or indirectly, with demonstrable experience in managing difficult and demanding stakeholders and customers during planning, execution and follow up processes;
- Experience in leading people through a changing business.
