- Why this role matters
- The Salvation Army’s (TSAs) Strategic Emergency and Disaster Management (SE&DM) Team is a national team who support recovery efforts when major events and disasters occur across Australia. This team has a desire to care for people at their point of need, and to support people holistically; financially, materially, emotionally and spiritually.
- As a CasuaRecovery Outreach Worker you will work alongside the local mission expressions, local/State/Federal government representatives & NGO’s in the area to provide support to communities impacted, assisting them to move past the disaster. This role will also assist community members in accessing local services and financial support.
- The role you could play
- Conduct assessments, provide financial grants, and connect residents with relevant information as well as access to services
- Provide appropriate referrals and advocacy for clients via telephone or face to face
- Maintain and update SAMIS and other relevant databases and online booking system in line with policy and procedures
- Work collaboratively and professionally with other external agencies and internal TSA stakeholders, creating referral pathways opportunities and supporting the development of formal partnerships with service providers
- Attend interagency and/or community meetings and events across the region as needed and agreed with Line Manager
- What you will bring
- A minimum qualification of Diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. Community Services Work) or significant relevant experience would be considered (minimum of Cert IV in Community Services)
- High level of written and verbal communication skills, including good empathetic listening skills, excellent verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrate commitment to quality customer/client service
- Experience in Community Support Services is highly regarded
- Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is desired
- A Working with children check is required
- A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
