CSIRO’s Health and Biosecurity Business Unit is dedicated to conducting scientific research that develops products and services to address the complexity and interdependencies of human, animal and environmental health and biosecurity challenges to provide benefits to Australia and the world.

An opportunity exists to join the Human Health’s Public Health and Wellbeing Group as a Research Projects Officer - Behavioural Science. In this role, you will provide specialised project support for the Human Health Program. You will have an understanding and knowledge of factors that influence human behaviour, mostly related to diet and lifestyle, as well as the ability to communicate with researchers and stakeholders.

As the Research Projects Officer, you will demonstrate your knowledge of human behaviour, intervention design and/or co-design approaches, as well as have a high level of technical ability, initiative, and communication skills. You will have the opportunity to work within multidisciplinary teams, assist in the design and delivery of interventions and other scientific research projects, and pursue new ideas with the support of senior scientists.

**Your duties will include**:

- Under limited supervision contribute to the design and implementation of behavioural programs that aim to improve nutritional status, wellbeing/mental health, and physical health.
- Conduct literature reviews, co-design processes and other research activities to develop scientific evidence to inform program development.
- Perform data analyses, interpretation and synthesis activities using a range of approaches, often working on several parallel and competing tasks.
- Assist in the implementation of project plans, including programming of questionnaires and surveys, and work constructively towards meeting project deliverables.

**Salary**: AU$66k to AU$84k pa + up to 15.4% super

**To be considered you will need**:

- Relevant bachelor’s degree in a domain of Behavioural Science (including but not limited to: psychology, public health, implementation science, or similar).
- Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research, literature reviews and/or other relevant research methodology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document results and communicate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders.

**Desirable**
- Experience with co-design or user-centred design processes
- Direct research experience in the area of health behaviours including but not limited to: lifestyle behaviours, dietary behaviours, or other behaviours relevant to wellbeing and mental health.
- Experience using survey software such as Survey Monkey, Survey Gizmo (Alchemer), Qualtrics or an equivalent platform.
- Direct experience with and/or knowledge of basic quantitative statistical approaches (descriptive statistics, relational statistics, group-comparisons), including practical experience with statistical programs (SPSS, R, STATA etc).
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
