About Us
Under the leadership of the Chief Municipal Inspector the Local Government Inspectorate is an independent administrative office hosted by the Department of Justice and Community Safety. It is the dedicated integrity agency for local government focussing on investigations for offences and compliance with the Local Government Act 2020 (Act).
About the Role
The Business Support Officer (BSO) is responsible for being the first point of contact for all enquiries and correspondence with the LGI. The BSO provides administrative support, including but not limited to liaison with external stakeholders, financial administration assistance and recordkeeping.
The BSO's main function is to respond to correspondence in a timely and effective manner and record keep on behalf of the Inspectorate.
The BSO pre-assesses complaints and responds to all incoming correspondence on behalf of the Inspectorate.

About You
- Experience in the Local Government sector is desirable.
- Strong written and verbal skills and well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Well-developed research, analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the capacity to meet timelines, cooperative working approach within a team environment, attention to detail and the ability to balance competing priorities.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work flexibly within a team environment to ensure effective, smooth, and timely operational assistance to the office.
- A strong work ethic, the ability to multitask, commitment to delivering timely and exceptional administrative assistance, a can-do attitude, and the ability to contribute positively to a small team environment are essential.
