**Position Information**:
Mittagong Public School, with an enrolment of 534 students (11% identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 19% as English as an Additional Language), provides a vibrant and supportive learning environment. The school emphasises quality teaching and learning, a well-rounded curriculum, and a strong focus on student well-being. Students are placed in 20 mainstream classes and three support classes. As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Cooperation guide all well-being practices.
The Learning and Support Teacher (LaST) works closely with classroom teachers and the Learning Support Team to build literacy and numeracy skills of students within the mainstream classes and to support teachers in meeting student needs.
**Selection Criteria**:
Approval to teach students with learning and support needs and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs including demonstrated ability to support school priorities, programs and teachers to meet individual student needs.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team, building positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies where student learning is the focus.
Coordinate the learning support team including providing professional specialist advice and mentoring to teachers, school learning support officers and executive, including support team organisation, individual planning, data and resourcing.
