The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, Health Information to provide a critical role at Justice Health.

**About the Business Unit**

Justice Health is part of the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and supports the Minister for Corrections. CJS also comprises Corrections Victoria; Policy, Strategy and Service Design; Group Services and Coordination; and Justice Services (which includes Community Correctional Services and other justice programs). CJS plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.

Justice Health is responsible for:

- The delivery of primary health, primary mental health and specialist forensic mental health services for people in Victorian custodial facilities and young people in custodial centres. In Victoria, health services to people in adult correctional and youth justice facilities are delivered by both public and private providers.
- Managing relevant contractual arrangements, including overseeing the delivery of health services and the provision and maintenance of all medical records in an electronic medical record.
- Facilitating the release of health information to community health care providers, legal representatives, and individuals.
- The design, procurement and delivery of new and innovative, evidenced-based health services that meet the needs of people of all ages and genders in custody.

Justice Health also works closely with custodial health providers and other parts of government to identify and drive service improvements that improve health outcomes for people in custody.

**About the Role**

The Assistant Manager, Health Information is responsible for assisting in the management of custodial health records in accordance with legislative requirements. This position will contribute to the development, implementation and review of appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines to support the efficient and effective management of requests for access to health information and records held by Justice Health. The role is also responsible for assisting in the coordination of request handling, managing workflow and deadlines, and providing a first line of oversight/QA over team outputs.

As the Assistant Manager, Health Information, some of your duties will include:

- Coordinating staff to ensure the appropriate release of health information that supports continuity of care, responds to complaints and complies with legislative requirements.
- Developing and maintaining standards, procedures and process that support a robust approach to release of health information.
- Providing input to inform improvements to information sharing.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience providing authoritative advice to senior management on health information management policies and strategy is also desirable.

**Qualifications**
- A tertiary qualification in Health Information Management and/or Law or other related discipline would be highly regarded.
- Eligibility for membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia is highly desirable.
