Seeking a Research Officer (RO) to drive research supporting implementation of genomic medicine in primary care

THE ROLE- Salary Package: From $93,017 - $102676 (HEW 6) plus 17% super & annual leave loading- Appointment Type: Two years, full-time fixed term (1.0FTE)- Location: Macquarie University (North Ryde); seconded to Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is seeking a Research Officer (RO) with a proven track record in providing a variety of research support.
_The position will be seconded to the Genomics in Society group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI) in Melbourne_. Therefore, the successful applicant will be required to reside in Melbourne for the duration of the project.

The RO will support a project implementing reproductive genomic investigations in primary care. The project will involve developing, implementing and evaluating a range of interventions and resources to support primary care practice, and consumer-facing materials in languages other than English.

This role will focus on the provision of consumer-facing support around reproductive genetic carrier screening. The RO will work with a team of investigators and genetic counsellors to develop, implement, disseminate and evaluate support for consumers who have been offered carrier screening by their doctor. Supports will include a decision-aid and web-based information about carrier screening; materials will be translated into languages other than English. The RO will play a key role in developing these resources, designing evaluation tools and collecting evaluation data as well as contributing to literature reviews, preparation of poster and oral presentations and synthesis of data. The successful applicant will also liaise with a range of academics, researchers and administrative staff across the Institutes as well as with external stakeholders from all areas of the health sector including patient support organisations.

The Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science (CHRIS) is part of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI) within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science, and has a successful track record of undertaking research and evaluation projects on health sector issues since 1991. Its core interest is to investigate issues of policy, governance and leadership in the health sector. It is involved in conducting original research into clinical governance issues, providing a scholarly capability by which to evaluate health sector policies, programs and projects, and contributing to undergraduate medical, postgraduate health services management, and public health and doctoral education.
