**The Role**
Education Liaison Officers (EDLOs) are responsible for providing educational support and advice to ADF families with dependent pre-school, primary and secondary school aged children.
As an EDLO, you will learn and understand the challenges facing ADF Families and work collaboratively with various stakeholders to provide the following:
Education assistance to Defence Families to empower and assist them to successfully integrate into the school community;
Build school capacity through education programs and resources to ensure a supportive education environment for students from Defence Families;
Provide a link between Defence and State/Territory and National education agencies.
This position is responsible for Sydney and Hunter regions, and can be based within any of the Sydney/ Liverpool/ Hunter/ Richmond Area Offices, however requires regular travel to each of the Area Office regions.

Defence Member and Family Support (DMFS) Branch, offers a broad suite of programs and services to help Commanders, Australian Defence Force members and their families manage the military lifestyle. DMFS supports Defence families’ self-reliance and capacity to engage with community agencies.
The DMFS Sydney/Hunter EDLO role offers integrated educational support to Navy, Army and Air Force families in the DMFS Sydney/Liverpool and DMFS Hunter/Richmond regions, and provides guidance and support to the Defence School Mentors and schools. The Education Liaison Officer is a key member of the DMFS multidisciplinary team works collaboratively along with Military Support Officers, Defence Social Workers, Business Support Officers and Family Liaison Officers.
You will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, networking skills and the ability to liaise with key stakeholders from within Defence and the department of education;
You will possess the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams and be part of an organisation where professionalism, innovation and the ability to find creative solutions to challenges is highly regarded.
