**THE ROLE**
Ensure Duratec’s payroll practices comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
This role focuses on governance, audit readiness, and strategic reporting, rather than operational payroll processing or system maintenance.
**Responsibilities**
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local payroll regulations, ensuring timely updates to internal policies.
- Advise HR, Finance, and Legal teams on compliance requirements and emerging risks.
- Ensure proper classification of employees, wage and hour compliance, and tax withholding practices.
Audit & Governance
- Lead internal and external payroll audits, including documentation, issue resolution, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain payroll compliance frameworks, controls, and audit trails.
- Collaborate with internal audit and legal teams to ensure alignment with corporate governance standards.
Policy Development & Oversight
- Draft, review, and update payroll-related policies and procedures.
- Maintain documentation standards for payroll compliance and regulatory reporting.
Reporting & Analysis
- Design and deliver compliance-related reports and dashboards for senior leadership.
- Analyze payroll data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of potential risk.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on data to improve compliance posture and operational efficiency.
- Support regulatory filings and reporting obligations (e.g., Fair Work audits, Single Touch Payroll compliance, superannuation reporting).
Training & Advisory
- Conduct training sessions for HR, Finance, and management teams on payroll compliance topics.
- Stay current on legislative changes and communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in payroll compliance, tax, audit, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws and regulations (e.g., Fair Work Act, ATO guidelines, superannuation rules).
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
