**Our Federal Government Client is engaging in APS 5 & 6 Policy and Legislation development positions within their team.**

**Overview;**

The Levies and Innovation Branch is working to streamline and modernise the existing agricultural levies legislation, so it is easier for industry to interpret and for the Australian Government to administer

**Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the development of policy and legislation, particularly related to the disbursement of levy funds (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Supporting the preparation of drafting instructions for the Office of Parliamentary Counsel to prepare the new legislative framework (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Reviewing existing legislation and historical levies policies to shape the new legislative framework relevant to (relevant to Levies Legislation Disbursement section only)
- Supporting the legislation exposure and introduction processes
- Supporting the preparation of internal and ministerial briefings, reports and policy discussion papers for review
- Liaising with other policy, regulatory and operational areas in the department and across government.

Knowledge or experience of legislative reform, policy and legislation development, and legislative processes is highly desirable.

**Skills, Education and Experience**:

- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, including with remote workers
- Ability to research and analyse complex information to inform decisions
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to provide sound advice on complex matters to the executive and the minister
- Ability to influence outcomes that are evidence based
- Ability to manage strategic directions while achieving team outcomes
- Experience working in a policy/legislative reform role including research, preparing drafting instructions, policy papers, briefing material and analytical reporting
