Payroll Officer

A leading university is looking for a Payroll Officer. It is a great opportunity to work in a busy paced environment within a friendly team with a positive team culture. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently, easy to fill timesheet, on-time weekly payment and collecting, calculating, and entering data to maintain and update payroll information.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently
- Collecting, calculating, and entering data to maintain and update payroll information
- Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, leave and other deductions, and reporting on this as required
- Interpreting industrial instruments such as modern awards and enterprise agreements
- Attending to complex payroll calculations which may include, redundancy payments, workers compensation payments, etc.
- Addressing payroll queries
- Resolving payroll discrepancies
- Developing ad hoc financial and operational reporting as required
**About You**:
- End to end payroll knowledge and practical experience is required in this role
- Larger finance system experience SAP, Finance One or Tech One
- A dedicated team player who can work independently
- Sound problem solving skills
- Attention to detail and someone who can work to deadlines
- No formal qualifications are necessary for the Payroll Officer role, however a degree in finance or economics would be beneficial.
- A Certificate in Business or Financial Services would also be highly regarded.
