We have an excellent entry level opportunity for a disciplined, analytically minded & results-focussed professional with experience in energy trading and modelling (preferred by not essential) to join our WA Wholesale & Trading Team as a Market Trader and Analyst within the Perth Energy Team.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to trade in the Wholesale Energy Markets for both Electricity and Gas.

What you’ll be doing:
- Daily market operations (trading) with Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and related parties.- Optimising Perth Energy’s energy portfolio through Energy Nominations (electricity and gas), bilateral, short term energy market (STEM) and generation.- Analysing and reporting activities.- Forecasting which includes developing, implementing, maintaining and improving tools, models and processes enabling effective trading decisions.- Assisting in gas and electricity retail product pricing and/or offer.

What you’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Economics, Engineering, Commerce, Finance, Mathematics).- Proven analytical skills and ability to manage and analyse mass data with a high attention to detail and ability to reconcile outcomes and inputs and ability to maintain strict confidentiality and work appropriately with sensitive information.- Good planning, organisation and problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgement and make decision based on accurate and timely analyses.- Ability to work unsupervised, maintain self-motivation and demonstrate accountability and initiative, with a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts easily, and demonstrated high proficiency and experience in MS Excel and modelling principles and practices.
