The Opportunity

As our business continues to grow, **data governance** has become a critical pillar in ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliability of information across the organisation. We’re now seeking a **Data Governance Manager** to join our team in **Ultimo**. In this key role, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and ongoing management of Transgrid’s **Data Governance Framework**. This includes defining strategy, objectives, roles and responsibilities, shared definitions, policies, standards, procedures, and technologies to support informed, data-driven decision-making across the business. You will drive the delivery of end-to-end data governance initiatives, including the rollout of a **data catalog**, **data quality**, **data literacy**, and **data loss prevention** programs. A major focus of this role is to elevate Transgrid’s data literacy, cultivate a data-driven culture, and embed best-practice governance principles across the organisation. You will educate and empower teams to understand their roles in data governance and champion its adoption.

**About you**

We’re looking for a capable and collaborative leader with a passion for building strong data foundations. You’ll thrive in this role if you can demonstrate:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a data governance or data management role.
- Strong working knowledge of data governance and management standards such as **ISO/IEC 38505**, **DMBOK**, **AESCSF**, **ISO 27001**, and **GDPR**.
- **DAMA certification** or accreditation is highly regarded.
- Well-developed business acumen and senior stakeholder management skills.
- A collaborative, solutions-focused approach with sound decision-making ability.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven people and resource management experience.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in a clear and accessible way for a broad range of stakeholders.
