**About the role**
The Optimisation Principal is responsible for partnering with various business stakeholders to develop all terminal operating master plans to ensure optimised utilisation and efficiency, whilst incorporating asset, labour, and network access capacity for terminals. As part of the Master Planning team, this role also includes developing new as well as reviewing and optimising existing intermodal train service plans from 1 to 12 months and 18 months to 10-year horizons to improve business and customer performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop terminal optimisation and simulation models
- Develop train plan optimisation models
- Investigate new business opportunity plans
- Conduct descriptive and predictive analysis
- Determine and highlight any supply chain constraints and limitations that impact customer demand and shareholder returns
- Conduct Strategic Planning for Legislative Requirements
- Carry out Current and Future Market modelling
- Match Capacity and process capability processes
- Consider system and process needs to achieve safe and effective utilisation of Assets
- Ensure access to facilities and within facilities support the future fleet and maintenance plans
- Model maintenance process capability (velocity) to ensure complimentary capacity to Service design
**About you**
To be successful in the role you will need to have strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse large and complex data sets. Experience operating within a matrix structure in an organisation of a similar scale within the freight industry will be highly regarded.
Other skills, experience and attributes required for the role include:
- Tertiary qualifications in either Mathematics, IT Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a similar discipline
- Demonstrated experience in service planning, scheduling or similar
- Strong engagement and communication capabilities with the ability to work independently as well as within a multi-function team to solve and deliver complex problems/projects
- Business case development and review
- Advance use of Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office suite
- Critical thinking and well-developed decision-making skills.
