As a Manager Aircraft Trading, you will work with the Senior Manager Aircraft Trading overseeing a large Group Fleet renewal process to ensure that an appropriate aircraft trading strategy and execution plan is established that sets out how the Qantas Group will approach the future retirement and renewal of the Group’s fleet. You will be responsible for:
Successfully leading commercial negotiations for the purchase, sale and lease of aircraft, aircraft assets and associated aircraft maintenance and leasing services for and on behalf of the Qantas group. Undertaking a thorough due diligence and risk assessment process to support the commercial evaluation of potential suppliers and customers in accordance with Qantas Group policy and Australian and international guidelines, laws and sanctions governing the sale, use, purchase and lease of aircraft and any related third-party services. ensuring that execution of the strategy and strategic sourcing activities occur in line with the aircraft trading strategy as well as delivering to targets as set out within the Group Fleet team (e.g. benefit targets); and the effective management of contracts and supporting data associated with aircraft trading activities. You will take a lead to collaboratively support the Senior Manager to manage a diverse team across the business as well as being supported by peers that may include a combination of engineering specialists and areas of the TILTA group.
You’ll have
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation and/or aircraft trading experience
- Degree qualified preferably within procurement, commerce, finance, international business, engineering, project management and/or law
- Extensive experience in international and multi-disciplinary procurement, including all facets of contracting, project management and supplier relationship management (eg.sourcing, negotiating, risk minimisation, business case development)
- Broad commercial skills and highly developed business acumen
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills utilising multiple mediums to effectively deliver the correct message to each stakeholder group, especially senior leadership
- Broad-based knowledge of Qantas divisions, airline operations and operating methods
- Technical experience preferred / knowledge of aircraft and aircraft maintenance processes and programs
- Good understanding of regulatory environment.
- A sound understanding of project management disciplines is required and experience managing multiple projects concurrently
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Superior time management and organisational skills with the ability to work on and manage multiple complex issues/work priorities concurrently and independently
