**About The Role**

With our continued growth, we're looking for a **Market Risk Manager** to join our dynamic team in the Sydney CBD. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in controlling market risk across the company, helping to ensure the success of our trading operations.

This is a hybrid role, with 4 days a week in the office, 1 day WFH.

**Your Mission at Life Trading**

As the Market Risk Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing market-related risks to safeguard the company's financial assets. You'll work closely with the Trading, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure a strong risk management framework and culture are in place. You will also oversee the Market Risk Framework together with key stakeholders, ensuring it remains robust and effective. From monitoring market conditions to ensuring regulatory compliance, you will play an instrumental role in driving the company's risk management strategy.

**What We're Looking For**
- Strong technical understanding of derivative markets, including options.
- Proficiency with risk management tools and quantitative analysis.
- Ability to assess and communicate clearly and succinctly, the financial impact of market fluctuations and provide actionable recommendations.
- Experience in developing and implementing risk frameworks to ensure consistent risk appetite across the company.
- Continuous evaluation and monitoring of exceptions, with regular reports to senior management on conditions and risks.
- Establishing strong controls to ensure adherence to risk limits and early detection of potential issues.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Collaboration with trading, finance, and compliance teams to develop effective risk mitigation strategies.

**Bonus Points For**
- Effective communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
- A Mathematics, or other relevant degree with proven experience in market risk management (ideally including trading experience)
- Understanding of algorithmic risk management
- 3+ years of experience building trading models
- Good Python (or similar) skills
- The ability to be objective and impartial, along with a willingness to challenge the status quo and ask the hard questions
