Location**: Canberra**

Data Centre and Storage Services section is responsible for implementing, configuring and maintaining Home Affairs Data Centres, server rooms and patch rooms across Australia. This includes the Department’s enterprise storage arrays (including Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Array Networks (SAN)).

The section is seeking a skilled and experienced Data Protection Expert with a proven ability to work within a structured IT governance framework.

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:
Building, maintaining and documenting Data Protection and Storage infrastructure across multiple environments;
Configuring, migrating and ongoing management of data protection capabilities and data stores;
Identifying, investigating and remediating data protection and storage issues/failures;
Commissioning new and decommissioning old physical and virtual storage and data protection infrastructure;
Managing and facilitating vendor escalations;
Planning and implementing solutions for complex data protection and storage environments;
Documenting work processes associated with the ongoing management of data protection and storage solutions;
Facilitating continuous improvement of data protection and storage systems;
Collaborating with other Subject Matter Experts, addressing/responding to incidents and resolving problems.
Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.
The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:
Work processes;
Technical infrastructure specifications;
Data centre standard operating procedures;
As-Built design documentation.
