**About the role**:
YP-COPMI offers specialised, time-limited mental health support for children and infants when their parents are linked with an Adult Mental Health Team, addressing severe or complex mental health disorders. This service is delivered through direct patient care or case consultation, focusing on supporting the mental health needs of both the parent and the child. We are seeking an emotionally intelligent, client-centred Senior Clinician who is passionate and enthusiastic about working with families experiencing acute mental health challenges. Strong interpersonal skills are essential in this role to ensure effective care provision and support for the parent-child relationship.
As a Senior Clinician, you will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team within the Adult Mental Health Team and the broader YP-COPMI HNE team, which includes the CAMHS Special Program Coordinator and other COPMI Clinicians. Monthly team meetings will provide ongoing support and collaboration. You will also have professional responsibility to the appropriate HNELHD Mental Health Head of Discipline, with access to discipline-specific supervision. The key values that guide the YP-COPMI service include delivering integrated, collaborative care, providing family-focused assessments, supporting parenting, and promoting child development. This role will involve providing specialist advice and consultation to adult and CAMHS mental health colleagues, enhancing the delivery of Family Focused Intervention, and offering mobile, assertive, and flexible support to improve patient outcomes and reduce disruptions such as mother-baby separations during hospital stays.
**Where you’ll be working**:
YP-COPMI is a specialised mental health service for children whose parents have a mental illness. This role is based within the local Hunter Valley Adult Mental Health Team, with joint leadership support from both HNELHD CAMHS and the Adult Mental Health team (operational and clinical).
YP-COPMI collaborates closely with the assigned adult mental health clinician and their team, taking a family-focused approach to support the mental health and well-being of both the parent and child. The service plays a crucial role in creating care pathways and facilitating referrals to community-based providers for ongoing support. This position is guided by the NSW Health Family Focused Recovery Framework.
