Sydney, Australia Children's Cancer Institute Full time

We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings 40+ years ago. However, for 4 decades, our vision has been the same — to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health through research. It’s not if. It’s when.

To accomplish our vision, we’re seeking someone who lives our values: owning and delivering meaningful work, collaborating to drive impact, challenging the status quo to create a better future, and balancing logic with empathy. Let’s achieve more, together.

The Research Officer role is an exciting opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary team and project manage a research stream focused on the development, characterisation and _in vivo _study of new immunotherapies for the treatment of brain tumours that will include using cutting-edge mRNA-based nanoparticle technology.

To be successful in this role you will be adaptable, flexible, and have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. You will have a strong background in molecular biology, immunology, and ideally, experience in development and preclinical testing of RNA-based nanotherapeutics in animal models. The role involves contributions to grant and report writing, preparation of publications, and training of junior researchers. Opportunities to present research findings at conferences and workshops will be provided.

**To succeed you will have**
- A PhD in a relevant scientific or medical field
- Advanced cell biology and molecular biology skills
- Advanced skills in immunology, including the isolation, culture and phenotyping of human and murine lymphoid and myeloid cells
- Experience in mRNA technology including the use of technologies for developing and characterizing mRNA-based nanoparticles
- Experience in pre-clinical research including characterisation and efficacy testing of RNA therapeutics in _in vitro _cell cultures and animal models
- Experience in animal models of brain cancer is highly desirable
- Experience in bioconjugation techniques is highly desirable
- Advanced live-cell imaging and imaging analysis skills
- Advanced analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct experiments
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

**We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to**:

- Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per year
- Access to Fitness Passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted rates
