**About the vacancy**

Reporting to the Manager, Finance the Assistant Payroll Officer will assist the Payroll Officer in administering and managing the Adelaide Festival Centre Payroll System to ensure all statutory and legislative requirements are met and staff are paid in a timely manner. The role also assists the financial services team responsibilities and supports with Records Management for Financial Services records.

In order to succeed in this role, you will have demonstrated experience in providing an end-to-end payroll service or a depth of financial experience in government or not-for-profit enterprise, be self-motivated and able to work autonomously. A comprehensive understanding of payroll terminology, activities and how these impact on human resource functions is required.

**Responsibilities**
- Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate standards and procedures for payroll activities in consultation with the Payroll Officer
- Provide support to the Payroll officer including delegated tasks during Payroll Officer's absence

**To assist with**:

- The Super Stream processing
- Processing payroll including end of month
- Other finance functions including banking and invoice processing
- The provision of excellent customer service in accordance with department objectives
- Ensure the Adelaide Festival Centre employee salaries and wages including leave requests are paid in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with Award conditions, relevant Enterprise Bargain Agreements and conditions of employment
- Attend Meridian, Rostering, CommBiz or Tech1 Training and seek further training as needed to perform this role
- Ensure appropriate records are maintained for employee salary and wage rate entitlements
- Provide support to ensure accurate payments are made in accordance with relevant industrial instruments for superannuation payments, Long Service, Annual and Sick Leave entitlements, termination and TVSP separation payments, engagement of staff and changes to employment conditions and increments
- Ensure payroll documents are processed and checked to comply with audit requirements and data entered into the Meridian system
- Provide administrative support when required for the effective functioning of the Financial Services Department

- Understanding of legislative requirements impacting on payroll processes, payroll tax, superannuation, withholding tax
- Tertiary qualification in Finance or related field (Desirable)
