Tails Dam Operators

**The opportunity**

We are seeking experienced **Tails Dam Operators** to join our Processing teams, responsible for maintaining and operating the KML Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF) and Wet Concentrate Dam in a safe and environmental state.

The TSF Operators will also conduct both routine and non-routine tasks including, but not limited to: polyethylene pipe welding, polyethylene and steel pipe maintenance, tailings material disposal, concentrate dam deposition, water recovery, mobile plant operation, general labouring duties and housekeeping requirements.

These positions are site-based operating on an **8 days on 6 days off** roster, FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton.

**To be successful in the role, the following is essential**:

- WA C Class Drivers Licence
- Confined Space, Working at Heights & Skid Steer Tickets
- Proven understanding in a mineral processing environment including fixed plant, mobile plant, and tailings management
- Mobile plant operational experience
- National Police clearance

**Key Duties**:

- (but not limited to):

- Position manual valves and pinch hose clamps on the tails discharge lines and wet concentrate feed lines
- Operate the decant pumping system, as required
- Inspect and monitor field equipment, dam wall integrity, pipework and pumps
- Ensure statutory compliance with environmental regulations
- Conduct general housekeeping duties within the tails dam and wet concentrate dam areas
- Identify and report maintenance issues to relevant stakeholders
- Execute and monitor wet tailings and wet concentrate deposition plan
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, steel victaulic pipe and couplings, valving and spigots
- Execute Statutory Reporting on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
- Maintain equipment service records, conduct prestart checks and ensure the availability of light mobile plant and small machinery through routine inspection and reporting of faults
- Plan and report daily deposition and water recovery activities based upon operational and maintenance priorities
- Adapt to emerging priorities and a change in conditions that may arise in the processing plant working environment
- Identify opportunities to improve the operational effectiveness of the tailings and wet concentrate dam areas

**About Karara Mining**

Located 200 km south-east of Geraldton in the Shire of Perenjori, Western Australia Karara has an expected mine life of 30+ years. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks. As part of the logistics network Karara owns and operates 80km of railway between Tilley Junction and the Karara mine site, linking the Karara Export Terminal at the Port of Geraldton, able to handle up to 16 Mtpa of export product from a dedicated berth, with associated rail and train unloading infrastructure.
