**Who we are**
The Biosecurity Training Centre (BTC) is located at Wagga Wagga and the BTC development team, who work remotely from the BTC, design training materials that will be delivered to our officers to build a future ready, skilled and agile workforce that continues to strengthen our biosecurity system. The BTC development team create, design, review, and update operational training materials that are delivered to our staff in various locations across Australia.

**The Jobs**
Development Officers design, review and provide support in the development of training and assessment tools, under the direction of the Development Manager. The duties include:

- designing and developing technical training courses and assessment tools
- contributing to the implementation of innovation in the design and development of training material
- undertaking analysis of technical information for training material
- influencing change and contributing to improvements in the quality and consistency of training material
- contributing to departmental training initiatives and the design/review of national training material in line with the capability framework
- managing tasks using basic project management principles
- working collaboratively with stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues and responding to their needs/expectations, and escalating where appropriate
- working independently or under limited supervision
- identifying/ resolving/ escalating problems or concerns relating to training content
- promoting compliance with departmental work health safety and rehabilitation policies and guidelines
- promoting and adhering to APS Values, employment principles and Code of Conduct and diversity.

**Please note** that this recruitment process will be used to fill 5 current vacancies in the section listed above. The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

**What we are looking for**

**Knowledge and experience**
- Adult learning principles and methodologies using best practices.
- Knowledge of the department’s Purpose, objectives, and priorities and how these relate to Biosecurity Operations Division or ability to acquire quickly.
- Ability to use or acquire the knowledge to use departmental systems.
