**Your new role**

A taskforce consisting of activities in policy development and regulatory improvement, standards development and maintenance. These positions will bring an exciting opportunity to participate in regulatory reform to help improve operational work processes, undertaking activities in relation to regulatory assessments. Your primary responsibilities are:

- Under supervision, respond to enquiries and situations involving a high level of complexity and sensitivity which require considerable legislative interpretation and analysis while adhering to procedure and guidelines.
- Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment.
- Research, review, provide input to and evaluate project methodologies, systems, tools and programs to achieve agency objectives and address opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manage procurement and contract processes when required
- Assist with the development of communication and education materials
- Develop productive and professional relationships with key stakeholders
- Assist in staff supervision, training and development
- Provide advice to scheme participants of their rights and obligations regarding schemes administered by the department
- Liaise with stakeholders and build and maintain relationships across the department

**What you'll need to succeed**

Your previous experience in a similar role within the Australian Public Service will lead to your success as well as experience in the below:

- Ability to understand highly technical scientific and legislative material is essential.
- Qualifications in science relevant to agriculture, fire management, soil chemistry, environmental science and climate change are desirable.
- Experience in conducting assessments in a regulatory capacity is desirable.
- Experience in understanding and interpreting complex legislation is desirable.
