NSW School of Languages is a Distance Education High School offering 12 languages to 2,600 students, supported by over 100 language teachers.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach a language offered in Years 9-12 at the NSW School of Languages.

2. Demonstrated capacity to lead teachers in implementing high-impact teaching and assessment strategies to support high student achievement in the RoSA and HSC in a Distance Education context to inform Strategic Improvement Plan initiatives.

3. Capacity to effectively manage, coordinate and monitor NESA and DoE requirements for Stages 5 and 6.

4. Leading assessment and reporting processes in the school, including development of procedures, professional development for staff, review of all assessments and examinations and consistency of teacher judgements.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
