Operations Supervisor

The position of Operations Supervisor is responsible to ensure both inbound and outbound freight travels on time and linehaul and PUD loading/unloading are completed in a timely manner whilst ensuring safety is always

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Cost efficient and effective allocation of labour and equipment to achieve the daily work requirements
- Ensure the workplace is safe and free from hazards and that all activities comply with State and Federal legislation, Occupational Health & Safety, Dangerous Good Policies, Environmental and Global Express procedures and policies are adhered to
- To ensure the handling of Dangerous Goods is carried out in accordance with the Dangerous Goods Code
- Keep the PM Operations Manager fully informed of all developments
- Encourage staff to put forward suggestions that could be beneficial to the Company’s profitability, image or welfare etc by conducting regular meetings
- To ensure that all loading / unloading and equipment records comply to the relevant guidelines

- Previous experience in transport
- Available to commit to 6pm to 2 am shift
- Knowledge of Dangerous goods legislation & regulations
- Knowledge of Industrial Relations & workplace health & safety legislation
- Thorough understanding of WHS and safety related policies and procedures.
- Computer & Numeracy and literacy skills
- Sound written and verbal communications skills
- Identification and remedy of operational inefficiencies and service problems
- Understanding of freight handling processes and their operational requirements
- Ability to determine labour and equipment to meet scheduled workloads
- Ability to recognise and control costs
