Racing Victoria has a rare and exciting opportunity to join the team as a Racing Operations Coordinator/ Handicapper.

**About the Opportunity**:
The primary objective of this role is to ensure racing is delivered at a competitive level through the allocation of weights to be carried by each horse to equalise their chances of winning.

Critical to the success of this role is the ability to coordinate the processing and distribution of all race field information for Victoria (including acceptances, nominations, trials and race programming).

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Monitor and ensure penalties and ballot plans are updated prior to acceptances/raceday
- Ensure the timely and accurate recording of Victorian race results, trials and sectional times
- Assist in the timely and accurate processing of acceptances for Victorian races
- Ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of the SNS database
- Assist in the development and formulation of country and metropolitan race programs for Victoria to ensure optimum field sizes which in turn maximises wagering.
- Review and analyse the form of racehorses to determine weights to be carried in a race
- Consider and make assessments made through weights and ratings on horse performance
- Assume responsibility for handicapping races as allocated in Victoria and in Tasmania
- Produce weights for Group and Listed Handicaps as allocated

- Demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Proven analytical problem-solving skills and demonstrated attention to detail
- Team focused with sound organisational skills and the ability to prioritise according to demands
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills which facilitate effective interaction with a broad range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of customer service
- Competence with the Microsoft Office suite of products
- Must be prepared to undertake some regional travel involving potential overnight stays, some weekend work and or flexible hours where required and attend some feature race meetings.
