We are seeking an experienced Principal Process Engineer, specifically with extensive Lithium processing knowledge and experience to join Bechtel’s Mining & Metals, Batteries, Chemicals and Fertilizer (BCF) Centre of Excellence. With a strong pipeline of projects ranging from front end concept level development studies to full EPCM project execution, now is truly the right time to join this innovative center of excellence.

With a large portion of the team in Melbourne and Brisbane working remotely to each other, we are flexible on location for the right individual to join our team.

**ROLE OVERVIEW**:
**JOB DIMENSIONS**:
A. Supervision Received
- Receives administrative supervision from the BCF CoE Manager, Engineering Manager or group/department manager with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

B. Supervision Exercised
- Provides functional guidance to engineers, scientists or technicians, as assigned; however, is not typically responsible for staff planning or salary actions.
- Can lead small studies as both study manager and deliver technical support to the study

C. Contacts
- Maintains contact with client representatives, suppliers, regulatory authorities, educational institutions, professional societies and Bechtel personnel as required to obtain and exchange information pertinent to assignments. Maintains contact with outside consultants as required..

**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES**:

- Serves as consultant to global business unit management, project and specialty engineering or scientific groups providing advice and counsel on special and unique assignments.
- Reviews engineering or scientific concepts, drawings, calculations and specifications.
- Provides guidance and direction to specialty scientific or engineering personnel in the development of design criteria and design specifications.
- Screens and recommends selection of special outside consultants; coordinates their activities and monitors their performance.
- Leads small studies as study manager and supports the engineering team.
- Conducts or leads special studies on economic feasibility and on new technologies, methods and materials.
- Interprets new or special governmental regulations, engineering codes, standards, criteria and performance data.
- May assist in developing and coordinating special technical educational and training programs for Bechtel personnel.
- As assigned, represents Bechtel at professional conferences and on committees.
- Keeps abreast of technological developments in the respective field and keeps management informed on important new advances.

**JOB KNOWLEDGE**:

- Advanced knowledge in metallurgy/mineral processing of Lithium and ability to analyze complex problems and systems.
- Is recognized and respected within the industry and among Bechtel clients for processing expertise.
- Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved relating to Lithium Processing
- Thorough knowledge of industrial and regulatory standards and design criteria of Process Engineering.
- Skilled in oral and written communication.

The above is normally acquired through:

- A recognized degree in engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, OR a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board, OR specialized courses in general engineering or an appropriate engineering or scientific discipline, AND
- Progressive work experience, preferably in staff design engineering, applied science, or specialty engineering but may be in other relevant types of engineering/science including systems start-up, field engineering or plant operation in large industrial plants, utilities, process plants or engineering/construction firms, AND
- Participation in the activities and proceedings of prestigious academic and professional societies and recognized national boards and bodies.
