**About the Business Division**:
The Road and Vehicle Safety Division sets the policy direction for road safety through the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30. We drive and support Road Vehicle Safety legislation, provide national leadership and coordination to improve road safety outcomes. We also set and enforce vehicle standards (including safety recalls)as well as overseeing key road and community infrastructure programs in partnership with the states and territories.

**About the Branch**:
The Targeted Infrastructure Programs Branch is responsible for administering and implementing national infrastructure sub-programs, delivered under the National Partnership Agreement on Land Transport Infrastructure Projects or through individual funding agreements. These programs benefit all Australians by improving road safety, increasing productivity, and enriching communities. We work in partnership with state, territory and local governments to form strong connections across the country and achieve the seamless delivery of a vast program of work.

The department is seeking to initially fill an Assistant Director position to work on the new Active Transport Fund. However we may use this recruitment process to establish a merit pool to fill future vacancies across the Branch.

The new $100 million Active Transport Fund provides funding for the design and construction of new or existing bicycle and walking pathways to encourage the use of active transport. The aim of the program is to encourage an increase in active transport through the upgrade of existing and construction of new bicycle and walking pathways across Australia.
The program is part of the Australian Government’s commitment, under the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-30, to improve road safety outcomes for bicyclists and pedestrians. The program also supports the Australian Government’s commitment to reducing transport emissions and supporting active and liveable communities.
