**About the role**

We are looking for a highly motivated and curious Actuarial Analyst to join our Home Pricing and Underwriting team. You’ll be working together with the team to provide actionable insights, develop recommendations and implement strategies within the Home insurance portfolio to improve underwriting profit and meet the business’ financial objectives.

Using the full breadth of actuarial techniques, you will be tasked with the analysis of data relating to actuarial risk factors and the wider business. To excel in this role you will have an in depth understanding of key data sources and effectively manipulate these for analysis. You can expect to be dealing with people from right across the organisation.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Prepare and use statistical models to analyse and provide insights which solve core business problems
- Effectively prepare data for modelling purposes and build models in Emblem, Python, R and SAS
- Build accurate and timely reports available to relevant users using different data sources and visualisation tools.
- Respond to Call Centre queries within the agreed time frame.
- Determine claims frequency and claims size models as a basis for pricing recommendations
- Monitor and identify opportunities to improve portfolio performance
- Contribute to the enhancements of systems, including pricing and underwriting systems as well as the overall sales and policy system
- Assist with statistical modelling projects from data preparation, modelling outcomes, price recommendation, system implementation and documentation of the modelling process
- Relevant Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science or related studies.
- Progress in Part I exams towards qualification as an Actuary.
- Approximately 2 years’ experience in an actuarial role
- Experience in programming languages such as SQL, SAS, R, Python and C# preferred
- Experience using Willis Towers Watson pricing software Emblem preferred
- Experience in data visualisation tools advantageous
- Knowledge of actuarial concepts
- Understanding of general insurance concepts
- Curiosity to explore profit and growth opportunities and provide insights and recommendations to convince management to change pricing, underwriting and product
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to work effectively within a team environment
