Head of Finance - Media - Sydney

**Company Background**

Our client is part of a diversified global network of media organisations. Covering media content, creation, and distribution across the globe, they boast some of the best talent in the business. The core business has been operating in Australia for almost 50 years and during that time has morphed, molded and changed hands a number of times. Through all of that, it today holds an easy market share in its core business offerings.

They have a great team of seasoned professionals, with some very impressive tenure across different business units. Finance has had some recent changes which creates a unique opportunity to join the team at a senior level.

**The Role**

Supporting the CFO in both financial control and business analysis, you would be responsible for the following tasks:

- Manage a medium-sized team of 10-12 corporate and operational finance staff.
- Ensure smooth running of all financial aspects of the business and ensure there are robust controls over all incoming and outgoing financial transactions.
- Provide financial information to the Executive team and global group finance on a timely basis.
- Collaborate with Media/Production teams finance to ensure there is timely and accurate reporting of production accounts, including margins, recharges and utilisation reports.
- Bank signatory.
- Manage the annual audit process.
- Manage the annual budgeting process.
- Ensure compliance with all tax & regulatory reporting.
- Ad hoc commercial projects and analysis with the CFO.

**Your Background**
- CA or CPA qualified.
- Worked in a retable industry - Media, TV, Film, Music or similar. You are familiar with industry nuances like royalties, talent management and project/production accounting.
- Strong staff management experience, ideally at least 5 direct reports previously.
- Currently in a senior finance position with good financial control experience.
- A ‘people person’. Someone who will be an approachable manager, a trusted financial advisor for the business units, and a ‘roll up your sleeves’, solution-focused attitude
- Excellent communication skills are absolutely essential.
