**About the role and where you will be working**:
The Housing Officer role is integral in ensuring that Southern Cross Housing supports our tenants, working with the Team Leader Community Housing in ensuring that the portfolio of homes is appropriately managed in line with the Community Housing Framework. Southern Cross Housing are a tier 2 provider, with the majority of our tenants being over 55’s in the metro area, and this role is key in ensuring ongoing tenant satisfaction and compliance with the performance outcomes of the framework.
This position is located in our central office in Rivervale.
**We’ll also be asking you to:
- **
- Ensure that our supportive landlord model is reflected in our daily operations.
- Supporting tenants and providing connections to support services.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team in ensuring that homes are appropriately maintained.
- Preparation and execution of Residential Tenancy Agreements, Bond Lodgment and data entry of all tenant information.
- The submission of tenant related account information to the Finance Department.
- Co-ordinating the allocation of housing for new tenants, helping them to settle into their new homes.
- Undertaking property inspections every 6 months.
- Liaise with support agencies who are already engaged on behalf of residents as required to assist in the maintenance of their tenancy.
- Be willing to advocate for our tenants when required.
- In collaboration with the Senior Housing Community Manager, manage tenancy breaches, rent arrears, housing transfers, income assessments and eligibility reviews, disputes, recovery action or eviction and attendance at court hearings.
- Attend Strata Meetings as required.
- Contribute to the budget process and monitor the budget expenditure to meet approved outcomes.
- Keep up to date with current trends and issues within the Community Housing sector and to attend training when required.
- Be aware of and ensure that all residents with deteriorating health or who are at risk of harm to themselves, or others are identified and supported
**About you**:
**To be considered for this role, you’ll need**:
- Knowledge of the Community Housing Framework.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- You will have strong organisational and time management skills and the ability to prioritise responsibilities and multi-task.
