If you haven't heard of us already, you will. Jimmy Brings is a pioneer in the on-demand alcohol industry in this country, and is on a mission to change the way Australians drink. We are on the road to disrupting the traditional retail model and are seeking a hungry, energetic and savvy head of technology who wants to come along for the ride.
We are not like other companies or startups. We aren't corporate. We aren't a startup that behaves like a corporate but allows t-shirts. We love individuality, passion and creativity. We are a small team who love our brand and our vision, and every time we deliver a delicious, great value bottle of wine in under 30mins... we get all gooey on the inside
**About the Opportunity**
We are looking for an experienced, pragmatic and fun UI Designer to join our UI Chapter in endeavourX, starting your journey in Jimmy Brings as their first UI Designer, contributing to a wide range of projects from Discovery through to Delivery.
With humble beginnings in Sydney’s Bondi Beach, Jimmy was the original disruptor of the retail liquor industry and the first with an aspirational delivery time of 30 minutes. In the last 3 years, we’ve delivered explosive growth and national expansion, fuelled by an insatiable public appetite for on-demand services and supported with the backing of Endeavour Group (home of Dan Murphy’s and BWS).
As Jimmy Brings has scaled, we’ve recognised the need to pivot from a scrappy, local business to a mature operation and brand. A critical piece of this puzzle is to welcome dedicated design resources from endeavourX - the digital transformation arm of Endeavour Group - to support our ongoing growth and product development.
- You will champion the brand look and feel, ensuring a consistent brand experience and that all design lives up to the highest quality of visual standards and interaction principles
- You will make decisions based on evidence, knowing how a product or service will function for users and the emotions or behaviours the end-to-end experience will evoke in the person using it.
- You will design consistent user interfaces in line with brand and strategic direction, ensuring that design outputs deliver quality product and service experiences for our people, our team members and our customers.
- You will collaborate and connect with your team, bringing them on a journey by creating beautiful artefacts that bring an experience to life in a way that delivers optimal customer and business outcomes today, and into the future.
Working from our Sydney office in Surry Hills, you’ll collaborate on initiatives across three squads - eCommerce, Delivery and Driver Experience - helping to unlock value both tactically and strategically, with the opportunity to work on complex logistics, merchandising and customer management software.
- Facilitate and nurture a culture of continuous improvement and growth, using design thinking and agile mindset.
- Foster the spirit of collaboration, creating safe spaces and environments for people to equally listen, learn, contribute and participate.
- Provide brand experience and UI design direction by tackling problems that range from concise and well-defined, to the expansive and ambiguous.
- Champion high quality design practice and mindsets that showcase the benefits of user-centric practices, to evolve design maturity.
- Comfortable working in Agile Delivery model; participating in all squad rituals and contributing to sprint cadence.
- Work with cross-functional partners and domain experts to identify and prioritise knowledge gaps across an experience.
- Support squad and Business Partners to introduce design thinking and agile mindset in our ways of working
- Use a range of co-design and collaboration techniques and resources to inspire engagement, online and in person.
- Translate research learnings into practical and feasible deliverables (functional specs & requirements); through the lens of user needs, business impact and engineering feasibility.
- Ensure proposed solutions will benefit customers and our business, balancing innovation and pragmatism.
- Communicate results and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, in compelling and creative ways.
**What you’ll need to succeed**
- At least 3+ years’ professional experience working as a UI designer
- You are a natural collaborator, adapting your approach as needed for each initiative. Always a supportive colleague to those around you, you pitch in when they need a hand, leaning in and building trust.
- Confidence presenting to and engaging with stakeholders, teams and partners, in a manner that inspires trust and support.
- Qualification in design related discipline or commensurate industry experience.
- Applied knowledge of Interaction Design Principles (Usability Heuristics for User Interface Design)
- Experience working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environments desirable
- Working knowledge of Agile ways of working and mindse
