Product Owner

We are building automated governance for Macquarie’s cybersecurity controls to mature and grow our cybersecurity capability. This includes continuously measuring our cybersecurity control effectiveness and enabling Macquarie’s technology teams to remediate control operation issues automatically or via self-service.

We are seeking an individual with a demonstrated background working in cyber governance, assurance, risk, or compliance roles with these qualities and experience:

- Think strategically to ensure the service is positioned to meet future business and technical needs.
- Leading small teams of 5 to 10 people including mentoring and training junior staff.
- Strong analytical thinking, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships across the organisation.
- 5+ years of cyber security governance or operational experience across multiple cybersecurity domains.
- Well versed in cybersecurity technical controls.
- A high level of expertise with industry best practice cybersecurity standards such as NIST CSF.
- An understanding of regulatory compliance requirements such as CPS 234.
- Prior experience with building and operating a cybersecurity control measurement service is not necessary but will be advantageous

As part of our Cybersecurity Strategy and Governance group, you will be responsible for delivering the automated governance solution. This includes:

- Collaborating with control owners to implement automated or self-service remediation where control operation issues are identified.
- Completing product owner tasks including ensuring the product vision is defined and communicated, developing and maintaining the product roadmap, defining user stories, refining the product backlog, and completing user acceptance testing
- Define, build and provide advice on how best to embed into our processes continuous measurement of cybersecurity control effectiveness.
- Manage the development and on-going operation of the technical and data infrastructure required to support the measurement and reporting of Macquarie’s cybersecurity control posture.
- Implement internally developed and commercial software to assess our cybersecurity controls and enable remediation.
- Help define and maintain frameworks and models that provide clear accountabilities and responsibilities for data, metric, and control ownership.
- Collaborate with and influence stakeholders across Identify and Cyber Security, Technology, Technology Operational Risk, and the Risk Management Group to define and drive the adoption of a cybersecurity control framework that allows for the continuous measurement and reporting of control effectiveness.
- Represent Identity and Cyber Security in internal forums and contribute to executive reporting and briefings.
- Lead a small team which may include software developers, data engineers, and business analysts.

To be successful in the role, you must be capable of building and maintaining strong relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders whilst also being comfortable to hold data and control owners to account.
