Waste Education Officer

The Waste and Cleansing Business Unit have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity working as Waste Education Officer.

As the Waste Education Officer, you will be contributing to the delivery of award winning waste education and behaviour change programs to drive innovative and best practice in waste management and the utilisation of Council’s waste service. You will also play a role in the education and behaviour change of littering and illegal dumping.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Liaise with operational staff and contractors on the waste procedure, performance and corrective actions.
- Develop waste reduction education plans for the community and effectively implement programs adopted by Council.
- Prepare written reports on waste reduction education, programs, and outcomes.
- Participate in the roll out of Council’s new waste service including the Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO) service.

**About You**:
We are seeking an individual with:

- Relevant degree qualifications in waste management or environmental science or equivalent qualification from an advanced tertiary institution together with a thorough knowledge and 2-3 years appropriate industry experience
- Current drivers’ license
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports.
- Demonstrated understanding of current waste management initiatives and waste management strategies.

**Desirable**:

- Experience in education and marketing field
- Understanding of the Local Government Act as well as other legislation
- Ability to undertake compliance audits.

**What’s on offer**:
We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $93,458 to $102.919 plus 11.5% Superannuation.
