A regional leader in rail and construction is looking for a Data Governance Specialist on a fixed-term basis.

A regional leader in rail and construction is looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join their growing IT function.

**Your new role**
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Support in establishing and maintaining an enterprise wide data governance framework
- Establish and own business processes and standards for master data management
- Creation and maintenance of a metadata repository/enterprise data dictionary
- Actively collaborate with business data stewards to implement data projects and initiatives
- Identify, document, and maintain organisational data flows
- Work with project teams to identify the best way to integrate new and changing data sources (i.e. what systems, which reporting repositories, how should the data be managed etc.)
- Adherence to agile delivery methodologies, focusing on delivering business value
- Adhering to the processes, procedures, and standards defined for the team
- Maintenance and continual improvement of a knowledge base
- Risk mitigation through the use of the NIST cyber framework and internal policies and standards.

**What you'll need to succeed**

You will have the following key skills:

- Experience gathering requirements around data flows, and how data is used by a business
- Understanding of data structures, modelling and how to manage data to keep it in good shape
- Understand integrations, how data is stored, managed and updated
- Understanding of master data management
- Previous experience implementing a data governance framework
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to juggle tasks well

Though this is not a technical role (no coding required), a good understanding of what data engineers/analysts do is essential to the success of this position.
