This role will have you safely operating and maintaining assigned Council heavy plant and trucks working on road construction and maintenance projects, Water and Sewerage assets and Open Space and natural assets to name a few. Operating within established Council and Local and State Authority guidelines you will provide assistance to these varying Sections and projects throughout the Central Coast Council area, using Plant such as excavators and backhoes and performing general labouring duties within the civil maintenance and construction industry. This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community. **Key activities of this role include**: - Maintaining daily operations within the Plant Pool Services section, with a focus on quality service delivery as a specialist plant operator for various Council sections; - Providing support for civil works of Council’s assets including; Road construction and maintenance projects, Water and sewerage assets and Open Space areas; - Identifying hazards and operating the machinery safely in high-risk areas including near traffic, overhead powerlines, underground services including water service and sewer. **Essential Criteria**: - Current Heavy Rigid (HR), or Medium Rigid (MR) Driver's Licence with obligation to upgrade to a (HR) within a specified time if required; - Current SafeWork NSW general construction induction card or equivalent; - Current RMS NSW Traffic Control Stop Slow accreditation OR commitment to obtain within a specified time period - Relevant licences or certification of competency to operate allocated plant, which may include excavator, backhoe, front end loader and skid steer or with obligation to obtain within a specified time period as required; - Current Working near Overhead Powerlines Safety accreditation OR commitment to obtain within a specified time period; - Demonstrated extensive experience working as a plant operator within the civil construction and maintenance industry; - Demonstrated knowledge of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) fatigue management requirements for operating a vehicle with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of over 12t and Chain of responsibility (CoR) principles; - Ability to work efficiently and effectively with different work units under various supervisors and adapt to quickly changing work environments; - Demonstrated experience in providing safe work practices including floating plant; - Demonstrated experience in general labouring duties within the civil maintenance and construction industry; - Ability to work unsupervised and a demonstrated pro-active approach; - Proven good communication skills for a variety of audiences including verbal and written to include basic computer skills; - Demonstrated experience in correct load restraint practices; - Demonstrated Knowledge of heavy vehicle and plant operating procedures, practices, inspection and minor maintenance requests. **_What we offer:_** - Weekly pay cycle; - Generous Leave Provisions: 20 days paid Annual Leave, 15 days Sick Leave/Carers Leave, Health & Wellbeing Leave, Long Service Leave after 5 years, Additional purchased leave, Parental Leave - 18 weeks full pay/36 weeks ½ pay, Paternity Leave - 2 weeks - Novated Leasing; - Employee Assistance Program (EAP) available to employees and their families; - Fitness Passport - access to gyms across the Central Coast and Newcastle; - Health & Wellbeing programs - skin cancer screening, Breastscreen, Flu vaccination, blood donations; - Recognition of Service; - Council Child Care Salary Sacrifice; - Access to discounted Health fund; - Our + Learning; - Professional Development opportunities; - Individual career development and learning opportunities; - Reward & Recognition programs. This role provides a salary range of $1013.46 to $1216.00 per week ($52,841.80 to $63,402.24 per annum) + $17.00 weekly Allowance + 10.5% Superannuation.
