This Federal Government department is seeking APS5, APS6 & EL1 Legal Policy Officers to join their Division.

**Your new company**
You will be part of a medium sized - large sized team working collaboratively to support the work of the Division.
You will use your expertise in policy development, program management and stakeholder engagement to review policies and guidelines, manage the program and implement the Australian Government roadmap. This will involved detailed analysis of issues, recent reviews and inquiries to inform ongoing policy development, as well as planning, briefing and reporting.

You will understand work that is complex or sensitive, generally operate under broad direction, exercise a considerable degree of independence and [reform a key role. You will engage in complex problem solving and issues management and coordinate and understand detailed or sensitive projects that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the division. You may be required to help manage key stakeholder relationships within and outside the Department and may manage staff.

**Your new role**
In this role (APS/EL1 level dependant) you will be responsible for managing the progression of matters allocated to you and team members under your supervision within the broad direction of your supervisor, including;
- Playing a lead role within the team, to develop and update policies and guidelines
- Contributing police advice and/or knowledge to assist in the development of appropriate police to support the division, including;
- developing, evaluating and providing police advice
- preparing requests for legal advice, liaising with legal teams, dealing with complex legal matters and legislation
- Supporting implementation of recommendations understand the divisions roadmap
- Managing internal and external stakeholder relationships and co-ordinating between different stakeholder groups, including government and industry groups, and managing consultancies contracts and procurement, where required.
- Contributing towards the leadership and management of the team and to the Divisions outcomes.

**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this role, you will have experience in the following;
- Proven high-level capacity to research, analyse and synthesise material from a range of sources (e.g. policy, program, legislative quantitative data) to produce sound police advice
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the proven ability to effectively communication complex ideals to a range of audiences in a range of styles.
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills and ability to develop and foster productive working relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results as part of a team, in a fast-paced and complex environment with mínimal supervisor, in a manner that is accountable, transparent and collaborative

Desired technical knowledge and experience;
- Demonstrated understanding of policies, legislation and or frameworks and the ability to rapidly acquire such understanding

**What you'll get in return**
You will receive a 12 month contract with the view to extend.
