Blind Sports WA (BSWA) have an opportunity for a passionate and energetic person to join our team. We are looking for someone who loves developing and building the lives of children through the delivery of sport and recreation.

The role of the program facilitator is to deliver the Telethon sponsored “Lets get visible” weekly program to enable blind and vision impaired children to experience and develop their skills through sport and recreation.

The program will run in four regions of the Perth metro area, northwest, northeast, south west and southeast of Perth. Each program will run for an 8-week term for 1-1.5 hours per session during the school term, working up to 10 hour/week.

**Key duties**:

- Design and implement a weekly activity program focusing on the development of physical gross motor skills.
- Provide appropriate supervision of the children to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
- Deliver coaching and instruction to educate the participants on taking part in the sport or activity.
- Monitor and evaluate the participation in the program and report on the progress toward positive outcomes.
- Capture any good news stories and highlights to assist in the promotion and growth of the program.

**Key skills**:

- Suitably qualified in a relative field of: Occupational therapy, physiotherapy, exercise physiology, Personal training, Teaching, coaching or physical education.
- Experience with working with children with disabilities.
- Knowledge and experience with the delivery of physical education programs.
- Ability to report and evaluate the progress of the program
- Ability to adapt and change to suit individual needs within the program as appropriate.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with an understanding of the barriers to participation for people with disability in sport.
- Build connections and relationships with parents, families and carers.

**Key Requirements**:

- Working with children check
- Police clearance
- Child protection training (organised by BSWA)
- Driver’s license or transport
- First aid
- NDIS Worker check

**Highly Desirable**:

- Understanding of blindness and vision impairment
- Good time management skills
- Mental health first aid
- Report writing

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $72,000.00 - $73,500.00 per year

Schedule:

- Afternoon shift
- Fixed shift

- Perth South WA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Working with Children Check (required)
- Police Clearance (required)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (required)
