Reporting to the Manager, Procurement Management, the Principal Procurement Adviser mentors and supports a team of Procurement Officers to drive and deliver VFM/cost effective general procurement and contract outcomes to customers for the Department, with a focus on complex/high value procurement activities. Working closely with the Procurement Management leadership team, the position leads and supports complex procurement and funding activities as well as identifying improvement opportunities, providing high level procurement, contract and funding advice and support to a diverse range of customers, and leads the unit's relationship management services.

The Principal Procurement Adviser is responsible for leading and providing high level advice and direction with regards to complex/high value procurement and funding projects. The position is also responsible for contributing to strategic projects to drive efficiencies and improvements in relation to procurement, funding, contract and category management operations. Providing Contract Management advisory services and developing and managing Senior stakeholder relationships is also a key requirement of the role.

**Accountabilities**
- Provide authoritative and expert advice and comprehensive reports and develop and implement accurate and timely systems for monitoring and reporting.
- Comply with the Financial Management Act 1994, Project Development and Construction Management Act 1994 and other relevant legislation, regulations and government directives, policies and guidelines.
- Pro-actively build and maintain positive relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead strategic projects to define incident management and financial business rules and systems in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders and oversee compliance policies to ensure adherence.
- Oversee the establishment of risk management strategies.
- Lead the scoping, planning and development and manage projects relating to financial and/or business management activities.
- Provide strategic thinking and building capability of staff.
- Review and provide advice on policy and guidelines to internal clients and stakeholders with respect to procurement for capital projects delivery and funding planning as well as assisting with evaluation and negotiation processes.
- Undertake complex analysis and investigation of business and system solutions to drive efficiencies and improvements in relation to procurement, funding, contract and category management.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
