Quark Expeditions is the leading polar expedition travel company headquartered in Toronto, Canada. We operate cruises to Antarctica and Arctic regions (Greenland, North Canada, Svalbard) on board of 3 modern polar expedition ships - Ultramarine, Ocean Explorer, and World Explorer. Since 1991, Quark has been establishing a tradition of firsts in polar travel: as the first to transit the Northeast Passage with adventure travellers; the first to take travellers to the far side of Antarctica; and the first to circumnavigate the Antarctic continent with guests. Quark Expeditions are crucial in Travelopia, the world’s leading experiential travel business, owned by KKR.
We are looking to hire an **Onboard Polar Travel Advisor** to join our team Reporting to **Onboard Sales Team Manager**, you will play a crucial role in establishing relationships with current customers aboard our expeditions and encouraging them to purchase their next trip with Quark while still on their current adventure. This role involves working aboard our ships in the polar regions for 80% of the year, interacting and engaging with onboard customers to build excitement and drive sales. The Onboard Polar Travel Advisor also dedicates up to 20% of their time to follow-up activities via CRM to maintain customer relationships and secure future bookings.
**What you’ll do**:
- Interact with travellers onboard during meals, expeditions, seminars, and other activities to build trust and relationships.
- Listen and ask the right questions to discover each traveller's needs and preferences.
- Provide personalised recommendations and create a compelling vision for their next Quark expedition.
- Encourage and facilitate bookings for future trips while customers are still onboard, demonstrating their excitement and satisfaction with their current experience.
- Reach monthly sales targets while maintaining exceptional customer service standards.
- Offer and sell all ancillary products, e.g., pre/post, flights, and insurance, to enhance the travel experience.
- Thrive in a dynamic team that challenges the status quo, creating your own lane within the business, and consistently exceeding sales targets.
- Book our onboard customers into their next trip of a lifetime and provide elite customer service throughout the customer's current expedition.
- Spend 20% of the time following up with past customers through CRM and other methods to secure repeat bookings.
- Follow and accurately implement the established sales framework.
- Maintain detailed and accurate notes in the Salesforce CRM for successful transition to the Client Service team.
**What you’ll bring**:
- Minimum of 3 years of front-line sales experience, motivated by revenue targets and service KPIs.
- Experience achieving monthly sales targets within a travel or sales environment.
- Ability to take initiative and confidently direct customer interactions.
- Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written. Any second language is a plus.
- Ability to work abord our expeditions ships 80% of the year.
- Experience with different computer programs confidently and efficiently or reservation systems and CRM/Salesforce is preferable.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proven experience in cross-selling and upselling to customers.
- Ability to handle and resolve conflict and guide customers to efficient solutions.
- “Hunter” approach with a proven record of success driving sales through a disciplined process.
- A love of sales, customer service, and travel.
- Flexible and energetic, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Resilient with a love of a fast-moving environment.
- Must have a growth mindset and be open to continuous learning.
- Love to create and build connections to drive repeat business through sales.
