The Media and Social Media Officer will be responsible for creating and refining media and social media reports, assisting the Media team to draft media releases, speeches, internet copy and other communication materials, identify target audiences and supervise their dissemination and assisting the Social Media team in drafting content for the department’s social media channels.
**Duties**
In accordance with the principles of workplace diversity, Work Health and Safety, participative work practices, APS values and APS Employment Principles:
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Writing platform specific copy
- Ensuring monthly content calendar is appropriately populated
- Liaising and building relationships with communication account managers and business areas, both internal and external, on social media and media responses
- Tasking the production and design team to create media rich content
- Developing monthly and yearly analytics for the Executive and stakeholders
- Respond effectively to requests for information from the media and the Minister’s Officer including outside hours as part of the media duty roster.
- Monitoring and reporting on Media and Social Media discussion and trends
- Constantly identifying new ways to develop content in conjunction with the Media Manager.
- Assisting with responses to media enquiries and other media engagement.
**Eligibility**
- Applicants must be an Australian citizen to apply.
**Desirable**
- It is highly desirable that applicants have appropriate tertiary qualifications in the area of public affairs, public relations, media, journalism, marketing or communications or be able to demonstrate a high level of relevant practical experience.
**Notes**
This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing position.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
