
Associate Director, Medical Centres and Counselling

The Associate Director, Medical Centres and
Counselling is responsible for leading the
development and establishment of an
integrated model for providing medical centre
and counselling services to the University
community.
Holding a key leadership role within Student
Services, the position will have oversight of the
end-to-end management of the service
ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient
care. This includes managing the physical,
financial, technological, human resources and
compliance requirements.
In addition, the position will play a key role in
supporting the Director in developing and
driving the strategy of the business and
creating a culture of inclusivity, continuous
improvement and excellence in service
provision.
This position reports to the Director, Student
Services for supervision, workload
management and for Performance Planning
and Review (PPR).
**Key responsibilities include**:
- Lead and supervise the counselling and
medical centre service for both strategic
and complex operational issues to ensure
effective and efficient end-to-end service
delivery to students and key stakeholders.
- Develop and implement a range of policy,
procedures and processes to ensure
effective management of the service.
- Lead strategic and operational planning,
budgeting and resource allocation, and
benchmarking activities.
- Drive cultural and organisational change by
fostering an environment that encourages
high levels of professional commitment,
growth and development, agility, resilience,
quality customer service and alignment with
QUT’s values.
- Oversee accreditation with AGPAL
(Australian General Practice Accreditation
Limited), and ensure the Health and
Medical Services complies with its
legislative and other obligations, with
particular regard to: Medicare, WorkCover
Queensland, RACGP (Royal Australian
College of General Practitioners) AGPAL,
Health Insurance companies, Professional
registration organisations and indemnity of
staff.
- Build and sustain collaborative and effective
partnerships with a wide range of internal
and external stakeholders and service
partners including the QUT Health Clinics,
Health, Safety & Environment Department
and HiQ.
- Compliance with health and safety policies,
procedures, hazard reporting and safe work
practices.
To ensure job flexibility the successful
appointee may be required to:
- perform any other duties as nominated by
the University consistent with the relevant
classification descriptors detailed in the
Enterprise Agreement. Staff undertaking
any new duties will receive training;
- participate in job rotation or multiskilling in
consultation with their supervisor;
- work across campuses
**Type of appointment**
This appointment will be offered on a fixed
- term, full-time basis for five (5) years.
**Location**
Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses.
Selection Criteria
1. Education, training and/or experience
equivalent to postgraduate qualifications in
a related discipline combined with
extensive relevant managerial experience
in a medical service environment.
2. Record of success in the leadership and
management of physical, financial,
technological and human resources within
a large, complex organisation.
3. Proven experience in fostering a high
performance culture including the ability to
motivate, develop, coach and empower
staff to achieve excellence in service.
4. Highly developed communication,
negotiation and influencing skills with
demonstrated ability to collaborate with
stakeholders and maintain constructive
client and partnership relationships.
5. Demonstrated ability to plan, analyse,
evaluate and implement decisions in line
with business objectives to ensure
continuous improvement in service delivery
outcomes.
